Between 10 and 17 November 2008, the Science Week was held at ECIMAT, dedicated this year to the “Colours of the sea in Toralla”. Through this project to disseminate scientific, we tried to bring the natural environment and the scientific world to people alien to daily life at ECIMAT (about 250 students from various colleges of the region as well as other visitors who came to the Center’s Open Day). For this purpose, besides visiting the intertidal zone of the island, we equipped a laboratory where children could perform one experimental practice and where they were shown a presentation of several thematic aquaria and explicative panels, focused on the light and colours which can be found in marine organisms, trying to understand their function and meaning.

SCIENCE WEEK 2007
The Science Week was held in the ECIMAT in November 2007, within the project “The marine live in Toralla”. The aim of these days work was to show the world of research to people and groups that are not specifically familiar with this area, in an educational and enjoyable way. Along this week, students from several schools of the region of Vigo came to the ECIMAT, where they learned a little bit about the marine environment through activities performed in the Center and in the visits to the beach and rock areas. Besides, in the Center’s Open Day, anyone could visit the Center and had access to the Island.
