CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CONTRACTS

Contract type: Fixed-term contract for production circumstances (maximum 6 months)

Number of positions: 1

Work to be performed: Study of pollution in the Vigo estuary through the wastewater treatment plants (WWTP).

Tasks:

– Collection of samples in the field in Waste Water Treatment Plants (WWTPs) and in the Vigo estuary.
– Processing and analysis of samples of soil and water in laboratory for quantification and characterization of pollutants in sludge, effluents and receiving waters.
– Application of filtration techniques, chemical and microscopic dixestion for the identification and quantification of plastic contaminants.
– Analysis of the efficiency of pollutant elimination in WWTPs and evaluation of their contribution to the pollution of the receiving water mass.
– Analysis of inorganic nutrients in seawater and other environmental parameters.
– Registration, organization and management of experimental data in databases.
– Data analysis and interpretation of results for environmental impact assessment.
– Elaboration of technical reports and scientific documentation associated to the project.
– Collaboration with other members of the research team.

Gross monthly salary: 800,00 € (including the proration of the extraordinary payments).

REQUIREMENTS AND MERITS OF THE CANDIDATES

Required degree: Degree in Environmental Sciences, Marine Sciences or similar.

Merits to be valued:

  • Competitive academic record. Applicants must have obtained the degree that gives access to doctoral studies in 2022 or later. Ideally, the average grade will be 8 (brief Curriculum Vitae, max. 4 pax.) and academic background that allows enrollment in a doctoral program in the academic year 2025-2026 (Master).
  • Foreign language skills (medium-high level of English)
  • Specific training and experience related to laboratory and field work to be developed (Driving license B indispensable).
  • Motivation letter in English (max. 500 words) explaining the interest in developing the work on the research topic and explaining previous experience highlighting the skills, knowledge and aptitudes for the position.
  • Personal interview. Only 3 candidates that in the sum of the merits reach a minimum of 50 points.
