The CIM has a Responsible Research Unit (RRI) that operates with a management system that guarantees the principles of ethics and responsible research, complying with the legal regulations in force on access to genetic resources, data protection, animal experimentation and health control. In addition, it advises research staff on compliance with the Convention on Biodiversity and the Nagoya Protocol on fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising from the use of genetic resources, through the development of a guide for researchers (ABS Guide), several workshops and conferences organised under different events and the implementation of a checkbox in the ECIMAT service request system.

In the field of animal experimentation, the RRI Unit supports research personnel to obtain and maintain, on the one hand, the authorisation of their experimental procedures with animals, and on the other hand, the training of personnel for animal experimentation.
