The CIM researcher and president of the Spanish Society for Cryobiology, Estefanía Paredes, participated in a panel of presidents at the international meeting of the “Society for Cryobiology” in the last week of July. The panel discussed topics such as the importance of cryobiology in scientific development and the significance of collaboration between societies, among many others.

The panel was composed of leaders from various international entities, including John Bischof, co-director of Advanced Technologies for the Preservation of Biological Systems (ATP_Bio); Birgit Glassmacher, president of the Society for Low Temperature Biology (SLTB); Allison Hubel, president of the Society for Cryobiology; Estefanía Paredes, president of the Spanish Society for Cryobiology (SECrio); and Dayong Gao, president of the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER). The session was moderated by Mehmet Toner, co-director of ATP_Bio.

For her part, Paredes emphasized that the Spanish Society for Cryobiology is just beginning its journey, highlighting that “there is a growing movement in Spain where researchers are supporting this society.” Additionally, the organization will have its own website by the end of the year.
