The European Marine Biological Resource Centre (EMBRC) is a European distributed Research Infrastructure designed to further fundamental and applied marine biology and ecology research, based in renowned marine biological stations and institutes across Europe and associated European Union countries. By providing access to state-of-the-art national facilities, EMBRC-ERIC provides the necessary and relevant services, facilities and technology platforms to study marine organisms and ecosystems. EMBRC helps to promote the development of blue biotechnologies by supporting fundamental and applied research activities in medicine, nutrition, aquaculture, natural products, and fisheries, among others. Spain is one of the 9 members of the EMBRC (BE, IT, IL, PT, UK, NO, FR, ES, GR). The Toralla Marine Science Station-ECIMAT, the main research infrastructure of the Marine Research Center of the University of Vigo (CIM) belongs to the Spanish node of EMBRC. In this framework, ECIMAT currently participates in several international EMBRC-related projects and initiatives such as Assemble+, AtlantECO, EOSC-Life and ERIC-Forum, among others.
Job description
Based in the Marine Research Center of the University of Vigo, CIM, the project officer will manage and contribute to the current portfolio of EMBRC-related international projects and other EMBRC-related activities, including managing the provision of services, participation in working groups and other subsidiary bodies amongst others.
Terms of the contract

- Dedication: Full time
- Beginning of the contract: February 2021 (3-month trial period)
- Gross salary: 28.000 € /year
- Weekly working day: 37.5 hours / week
- Duration of the contract: 1.5 years (possibility of renewal up to 2 extra years)

Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the financial and administrative day-to-day management of the active EMBRC-related projects in collaboration with the International Projects Office of the University of Vigo.
- Contributing to the delivery of EMBRC-related projects activities, including attending project meetings, deliverables and reporting in general, in collaboration with the Technical Staff of the Marine Research Center-CIM.
- Communication and outreach of the projects.
- Funnelling input of CIM to the EMBRC-ES and EMBRC governing bodies and subsidiary bodies, including through the participation in Working Groups and reporting.
- Managing the EMBRC-related services requests, including reporting.
- Searching for opportunities to further develop the participation of CIM in EMBRC beyond the life and scope of the active projects.
- Other requested activities related to the innovation and internationalization strategy of the CIM.
Requirements:
- Experience in the management of multipartner international projects.
- Excellent communication skills; fluent English speaker. Accredited English language training (level C1 or higher).
- Good knowledge of the EU research funding schemes and marine and research infrastructure policies.
- Ability to work in a team, flexibility and proactivity.
- A background and/or experience in Marine Sciences will be an asset.
Evaluation criteria and selection process
Professional experience (45 points):
- Experience in International projects management.
- Experience in financial and technical management of R&D projects in public Universities.
- Experience in marine research.
Training (15 points):
- Degree in Marine Sciences, Biology or related discipline.
- Training or specialization courses in international project management.
Interview (40 points)
If necessary, the Evaluation Committee will convene an interview to the five candidates who obtain the highest score by adding the scores in Professional experience and Training.
