Are you ready to conduct impactful marine science from the European Atlantic coast?

The Marine Research Centre at the University of Vigo (CIM) welcomes researchers interested in applying for the 2025 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF) to join a vibrant research environment connected to science, territory, and global networks.

With research organized around three main pillars —aquaculture, digitalization, and biodiversity and global change— CIM offers a unique ecosystem of support, cutting-edge infrastructures, and active collaboration with industry and society.

Deadline: June 16th at 17:00 CET.

Three Strategic Research Pillars

1. Aquaculture: Advanced Science with Local and Global Impact

  • Advanced research in fed and non-fed aquaculture, focusing on nutrition, welfare, reproduction, genetics, and applied technologies.
  • Strong partnerships with the aquaculture sector, especially mussel farming, through the ECIMAT and experimental raft.
  • High scientific output and leadership in competitive research projects with international visibility.

2. Marine Digitalization: Enabling Smart Ocean Management

  • Development of digital tools for smart, sustainable marine management.
  • Expertise in automated observation, open data, and real-time sensor networks (raft and research vessel).
  • Key partner in the Digital Twin of Galicia (Marine Sciences Programme).
  • AI-driven early warning systems for extreme events, integrating physical modelling and real-time data.

3. Biodiversity and Global Change

  • Research on marine pollution (microplastics, emerging contaminants, toxicology) with ecological and chemical perspectives.
  • Active support to public agencies in sustainable marine-coastal management and policy advising.
  • Climate adaptation studies on ecosystem responses to extreme events and long-term change.
  • Development of marine rewilding and nature-based solutions (NBS) for coastal restoration.

State-of-the-Art Infrastructure to Boost Your Research

  • ECIMAT: aquaria, mesocosms, and marine biology labs (dry and wet).
  • Sensorized experimental raft: data networks, real-time transmission, and monitoring.
  • CIM UVigo Research Vessel and auxiliary boats.
  • EPhysLab Computing Centre: capacity for meteorological and oceanographic modeling and forecasting.
  • Sedimentary Repository and long-core analytical services: integrated environmental observation.

A Scientific Network Open to the World

Join a connected community engaged in major international initiatives:

  • Active participation in EMBRC (TNA, with ECIMAT as the Spanish node), OFI (Canada), and EPOS.
  • Firm commitment to gender equality, inclusion, and environmental sustainability across all research and institutional activities.
  • Involved in Ocean Literacy initiatives (EU4Ocean, UN Ocean Decade, CRUSOE, Atlantic Strategy) to enhance public awareness and responsible ocean engagement.

Support from Day One

At CIM, we are committed to helping you develop a competitive MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship proposal. From the first contact, we will support you in designing your project, identifying the best-fit supervisor, and aligning with our strategic lines.

  • Our scientific team will assess all expressions of interest and select the most promising candidates.
  • Selected researchers will be invited to prepare the full proposal with CIM’s scientific and administrative support.
  • We provide tailored guidance on scientific, strategic, and procedural aspects of your application.
