Transfer

CIM is consolidating itself as a strategic partner for the productive sectors linked to the sea, thanks to its ability to transfer knowledge and innovation from research to society and to the blue economy of Galicia and the international sphere. Its activity encompasses multidisciplinary transfer projects, the promotion of technology-based entrepreneurship, the valorization of research results, and advisory services to public administrations with responsibilities in marine environmental management.

The Center has moved toward a more selective portfolio focused on high-impact macro-initiatives, strengthening its business traction capacity and international projection. This approach is structured through a Transfer Plan, which defines strategic priorities and establishes monitoring mechanisms to assess the impact of the initiatives.

We make all our scientific and technological potential, equipment, infrastructures, and R&D&i resources available to society, which can be consulted in our Service Catalog.

R&D Projects and Contracts

CIM transforms scientific knowledge into solutions and opportunities for sea-related sectors, from aquaculture and fisheries to biotechnology and marine renewable energy. Its activities include carrying out I+D contracts with companies and public organizations, participating in collaborative projects at national and international levels, and generating intellectual property, materialized in patents and transferable technologies.

Spin-offs

In the field of entrepreneurship, CIM promotes the creation and consolidation of spin-offs and innovative projects, supporting their establishment, investment attraction, and strategic development. These initiatives enable the transformation of research results into high-value-added products, processes, and services for the blue economy. Thanks to this collaborative ecosystem, CIM acts as a bridge between science and applied innovation, connecting researchers, companies, administrations, and stakeholders in the marine sector, thereby reinforcing its role as a driver of technological and economic development in Galicia and beyond.

Open Days for Companies

CIM strengthens its collaboration with the business and institutional sectors through Open Days for companies and partner organizations, an event designed to create new opportunities for cooperation between science and industry. Under the slogan “Building the Blue Economy Together”, this initiative brought together representatives from the marine, energy, biotechnology, and environmental sectors, fostering dialogue and the creation of strategic alliances. Visits to ECIMAT, networking spaces, and scientific excursions along the Vigo estuary provided a unique setting to explore synergies and jointly address the challenges of the blue economy and sustainable development in Galicia.

The CIM received the IPFest 2024 Award for Communication of Knowledge Transfer for this initiative, a recognition of its excellence in disseminating initiatives that transform science into solutions for the blue economy.
