We open our Center every year under the program “Divulgando Ciencia Singular”, in order to give visibility to the cutting-edge marine research carried out at the Universidade de Vigo and its importance for the society, and to show the facilities of the Marine Science Station of Toralla (ECIMAT) – the main research infrastructure of CIM-UVigo. As part of the program, scientific aspects of the marine environment related to the Vigo estuary will also be covered.
This year’s Open doors will take place on November 29th and 30th and will consist of three different activities:
- “Get onboard with the CIM”: Activity of 2 hours and 30 minutes that includes a return boat trip from a Laxe to the ECIMAT and a guided tour by the station. During the boat trip, a series of activities will be carried out to learn about the biodiversity of ecosystems and marine organisms of the ría. During the guided visit at the ECIMAT, we will do a tour to discover the ongoing research projects, and the role of the station staff in making them possible.
- “Meet the CIM in Toralla”: 1-hour activity that includes a guided visit to the ECIMAT.
- “Meet the CIM on the Campus”: 1-hour activity that includes a guided tour by the CIM facilities located at the Campus of Vigo.
The activities will be guided by technical and scientific staff of the CIM-UVigo. In-advance registration is compulsory.
