The Marine Research Center (CIM) of the University of Vigo is one of the ten centers that are part of the Network of Research Centers of the Galician University System (CIGUS), a superstructure promoted by the Xunta de Galicia. O seu obxectivo é fortalecer e potenciar a investigación de excelencia universitaria e actuar como motor de progreso da rexión.
Under the CIGUS brand, which represents a unique model in Spain, excellent university research carried out across the territory is structured and made visible, reflecting a strong commitment to economic growth, social well-being, and the future development of Galicia.
The CIM’s activity is co-financed by the European Union, within the Feder program (European Regional Development Fund) of the Xunta de Galicia within the framework of the Feder Galicia 2021-2027 operational program with the thematic objective of “developing and improving research and innovation capacities and assimilating advanced technologies”. No caso do CIM, isto contribuirá a promover a xeración de coñecemento de excelencia en ciencia mariña, a transferencia dese coñecemento para beneficio da sociedade, e a internacionalización da actividade investigadora da Universidade de Vigo no ámbito do mar.
