The center is made up of 194 people, of whom 144 are researchers organized into 16 groups carrying out cutting-edge marine science, and 50 are technical support staff for research. Recognized by the Xunta de Galicia as a Galician Research Center (CIGUS Network) and the central node of the marine strategy of the Galician University System (SUG), the CIM leads excellent marine science with real impact.
We contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of the oceans through science, innovation and knowledge transfer. We conduct research to better understand the sea and put that knowledge at the service of society, the planet and future generations.
We aim to be an internationally recognized reference center in marine research and a key agent in blue innovation, knowledge transfer, and outreach within the European Atlantic Arc.
