CONTRACT DETAILS

- Work to be Performed: Assess solutions for conserving marine biodiversity and combating climate change (CC), and short- and long-term adaptation solutions (development pathways) in European marine waters

In coordination with the Future Oceans Lab group, the candidate will join a multidisciplinary research effort combining the social and natural sciences, and will carry out the following tasks:
Develop informative products on the results of the ACTNOW project to support decision-making, such as a report on possible solutions and development pathways to maintain marine biodiversity under different future scenarios, including recommendations for expanding the EU’s network of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).
Review and propose ocean literacy activities on marine biodiversity aimed at society. - Gross Monthly Salary: €2,410.00 (including prorated extra payments)

REQUIREMENTS AND MERITS
- REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: PhD in Marine Ecology
- REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION: Upper-intermediate English level. Motivation letter as indicated in item nº3
MERITS TO BE ASSESSED
- Item nº1: Academic background. Language skills (upper-intermediate level of English, Spanish and Galician) — 20 points
- Item nº2: Professional experience and suitability of the CV for the functions to be performed: Demonstrable experience in the following fields: Experience in the study of marine socio-ecological systems, in the study of climate change and its effects on the marine environment, in working with key stakeholders in the marine sector (decision-makers, managers, fisheries, academia, etc.), as well as in the communication and dissemination of scientific results and data to stakeholders and the general public. Experience in the study of marine resource management and participatory spatial analysis. Expertise in programming with R, Python or similar, advanced use of Excel, use of Github or similar, spatial analysis with R or GIS, network analysis with STATA, design and conducting of surveys or other participatory workshops, and communication and dissemination of scientific results — 50 points
