As part of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science activities, the Marine Research Center (CIM) at the University of Vigo will hold the awards ceremony for the Marie Tharp 2025 Video Contest next Wednesday, 11 February 2026. This competition is aimed at predoctoral and postdoctoral women researchers at the center who would like to present their work in a one-minute audiovisual piece.
The event will begin at 12:00, and a roundtable discussion, “Challenges and opportunities for women in marine science”, will be held during the day, featuring CIM researchers at different stages of their careers, the director of UVigo’s Equality Unit, Yolanda Rodríguez, and moderated by Faro de Vigo journalist Sandra Penelas. In addition, the videos by this year’s award-winning researchers will be screened.
