The Centro de Investigación Mariña (CIM) of the Universidade de Vigo is taking part in the national science outreach initiative “Counting Light Pollution from Coast to Coast,” organized by the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), through the Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (IAA-CSIC), on the occasion of World Environment Day. As part of this nationwide coordinated action, 21 talks will be held simultaneously in 19 Spanish cities, with the Vigo event being the only one taking place in Galicia.
CIM researcher Ana Ulla will deliver the session entitled “Night, Light and Biology: What We Know and Don’t Know about Light Pollution,” which will take place on Thursday, 5 June at 19:00 hours at the Redeiras building (Praza do Berbés). This public lecture will address the effects of artificial light on biodiversity, ecosystems, human health, and the quality of the night sky, reinforcing the CIM commitment to outreach and awareness-raising in the face of emerging environmental challenges.
