Singular research centers of Galicia, a benchmark for innovation and excellence according to the CYD Foundation

The Marine Research Center of the University of Vigo and the other singular centers in Galicia are a benchmark in innovation and excellence for the Fundación Conocimiento y Desarrollo (CYD). This is how it is published in its latest yearbook, recently released.

This model that the Xunta has been promoting for a decade and to which CIM-UVigo belongs is an example of good practice for the Fundación, which is a promoter of giving visibility to the contribution that Spanish universities make to the country’s economic and social development.

The publication, one of the most prestigious in Spain in the academic field, analyzes the program of research centers of excellence of the Galician University System (SUG) implemented by the Xunta as “a unique case” that acts as a driving force for the change and improvement of universities.

The CIM-UVigo is the central element of the University’s marine strategy, and it constitutes an interdisciplinary pole of reference at the local, national and international levels in the field of the generation and transfer of knowledge of the sea. The center is made up of 15 research groups and 3 individual researchers who bring together a total of more than 200 people.
