Torallamar registers an increase in the minimum temperature of the sea surface waters

Torallamar oceanometeorological station registers again an increase in the minimum temperature of the sea surface with respect to the measurements of the last 7 years. As Jose González, head of the ECIMAT Oceanography Unit (CIM-UVigo), explained to Faro de Vigo, this anomaly is due to the absence of north wind during the months between February and May. These anomalous events and the continuity of fishing activity explain why marine biodiversity did not increase during confinement due to COVID-19.

The research and outreach CIM´s activities are cofunded by the European Union through the ERDF Operational Program Galicia 2014-2020.
