The oceanometeorológica station of Torallamar has once again recorded an increase in the minimum sea surface temperature compared to measurements from the last 7 years. As Jose González, head of the Oceanography unit of ECIMAT (CIM-UVigo), explains to Faro de Vigo, this anomaly is due to the absence of northerly winds during the months between February and May. These anomalous events and the continuity of fishing activity explain why marine biodiversity has not increased during the confinement due to COVID-19.
The research activity of the CIM and the dissemination and transfer activities of the Center have the support of the Xunta de Galicia and the European Union, through their co-financing under the FEDER/FSE Galicia 2014-2020 Operational Program.
