Estuary pollution, climate change or the sea urchin are some of the topics on which researchers from the Marine Research Center will contribute their knowledge to the #AfundacionEnCasa training program.
As explained by the Campus do Mar, this is a “collaboration with the Social Work of ABANCA through the #AfundacionEnCasa initiative”, through which throughout the month of June and also on the occasion of World Oceans Day, “three researchers from the Marine Research Center will be the speakers of three presentations focused on different marine themes in order to bring research to the whole family”. The presentations, which will take place on June 9, 23 and 30, will be broadcast in streaming through the Afundación channel. Another three conferences will take place in autumn.
Three sessions, three themes
CIM-UVigo’s participation in the #AfundacionEnCasa program will kick off next June 9 at 6:00 p.m. with Alberto Gutiérrez Barral, predoctoral researcher in the CIM’s Biological Oceanography Group, with an informative talk on the pollution of estuaries and the foreseeable increase in pathogens.
On June 23rd, it will be the turn of Luis Paulo Alcaraz Rocha, also a predoctoral researcher in the Biological Oceanography Group, who will delve into the role of phytoplankton in climate change and explain how the fate of living beings depends on these microorganisms. The time of this talk is to be determined.
The last intervention before summer will be on June 30 with Tania Ballesteros, researcher from the Coastal Ecology Group, who will introduce the public to the characteristics of the sea urchin and its role in the oceans.
