Open Science: a new way of conceiving research work and the dissemination of results

On Tuesday, November 17, Ana Bernabeu, Director of the Research Area at the University of Vigo and researcher of the GEOMA group (Marine and Environmental Geology Group, CIM-UVigo), will present, within the program Café con Sal, the talk Open Science: a new way of conceiving research work and the dissemination of results.

In 2017, the University of Vigo obtained the European Human Resources in Research seal (HRS4R), which recognizes institutions that make progress in aligning their human resources policies with the 40 principles of the European Charter & Code of Conduct. Among them, ethical aspects stand out, such as good practices in research and the dissemination and exploitation of results.

Along these lines, the EU established the importance of so-called Open Science, defining it as a basic scientific policy that must be implemented in European projects. Likewise, some of the most prestigious journals require researchers to store the data used in their publications in open and accessible repositories.

We are facing a paradigm shift in how to deal with the management of information, data, and research itself. But what do we understand by Open Science? At the Vice-Rectorate for Research, Ana is responsible for implementing the HRS4R seal within the University of Vigo and for promoting the associated action plan, promoting among others Open Science at UVIGO. In this conference, Ana Bernabeu will introduce the basic concepts of Open Science, defining the four basic pillars and will establish the first steps to implement this new policy at our University: where we are and where we want to go.

The conference will be held virtually and will be broadcast live through the Remote Campus of the University of Vigo. To access, follow the following instructions:
