With the aim of preventing the spread of the coronavirus, the facilities of the Marine Research Center of the University of Vigo will remain closed in compliance with the Management instructions of March 16, 2020, which implements the rectoral resolution of 03/14/2020 on the temporary closure of the facilities of the University of Vigo.

- Rector’s resolution extending the Resolution of March 14, 2020 on the temporary closure of facilities, centers and services at the University of Vigo. Regarding the ECIMAT Facilities, the station will remain temporarily closed, with only 4 technicians from the Marine Culture Unit remaining on duty in alternating weekly shifts of 2+2 in order to maintain the essential services that guarantee the operation of the facilities and the maintenance of confined organisms and strains, minimizing the risk of occupational contagion to the maximum. Work in the mesocosm is suspended.

After 14 days since the suspension of face-to-face teaching at the University of Vigo, the COVID-19 Monitoring Committee reports that a total of six cases have been recorded at the institution during that period. Thus, it is understood that the new positives will no longer be the result of activity at the university. From now on, these will be considered as community transmission.

Information
- Face-to-face teaching activities are suspended from March 13, 2020 and until further notice.
- Libraries and sports facilities are closed.
In the first instance, we appeal to the tranquility and good judgment of the members of the university community to follow the health guidelines.
There are no face-to-face teaching activities (theoretical and practical classes and exams) or complementary services (library, tutorials, sports, field trips, etc.) for students. Therefore, they should not go to university facilities.
The centers will remain open and administrative and teaching activity will continue.
Tomorrow, Friday, March 13, from 1:00 p.m., instructions will be given to all staff regarding the suspension of academic activities.
Measures
The following activities are suspended until further notice
Seniors Program.
External practices in health centers.
Festivities organized by schools or students (San Pepe, Santa Catalina, San Aquiles…).
Any extra-academic event that involves a gathering of people (HappygoRunning, …).
Congresses, project monitoring meeting
Travel to or from universities or centers where in-person activities have been suspended is not authorized.
The participation of people belonging to these institutions must be carried out electronically.
External internships
Follow the instructions of the respective companies regarding continuity, termination or teleworking. In any case, the student must notify the person supervising their internship of their situation.
Sports
Take extreme hygiene and prevention measures
Sensitive people
Particularly sensitive people in the university community must take extreme preventive hygiene measures.
They are considered sensitive people:
– Pregnant women.
– People of any age with chronic cardiovascular, pulmonary, renal and diabetes diseases, immunocompromised, undergoing cancer therapies or presenting with morbid obesity, etc.
Mobility
Students who suspend their mobility may join the University of Vigo 14 days after their return, after completing the necessary administrative procedures.
The attention provided by the University of Vigo services to students coming from universities that have suspended their in-person academic activity will be provided only by telephone and email.

Do not disclose unverified information.
