Science Week in Galician

2020 will be the year of scientific outreach in Galician at the University of Vigo. This is the major goal set by the Language Normalization Area for the coming year. To achieve it, they have gotten to work, in collaboration with the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit, planning a series of activities taking place this week with several roundtables in Vigo and Pontevedra. These aim to show the university community and the general public a dual reality: that Galician is as valid a language as any other for doing science, and that science is a key field for language normalization.

A total of three roundtables will be held: one on Wednesday, the 20th, at 19.30h at the Faculty of Fine Arts on the Pontevedra campus, and two in Vigo on Thursday, the 21st—the first at 12.00h in the meeting room of the Ernestina Otero building, and another in the afternoon at 19.30h at the Juan Compañel Public Library (rúa de Joaquín Yáñez, núm.6).

The program of the En galego! Investigación e divulgación científica sessions begins today, the 20th at 19:30, in space 25 of the Faculty of Fine Arts on the Pontevedra Campus, with a roundtable aimed at contributing to greater visibility of science in the Galician language.
