Business2Sea, Atlantic Stakeholder Platform Conference and Interreg Atlantic Area Annual Event are the three events held this week in the city of Porto in which researchers from CIM-UVigo and Campus do Mar managers participated and in which a large number of agents from the marine and maritime field from different countries gathered. As in previous years, CIM-UVigo and Campus do Mar were invited to take part in these events, with a more proactive participation this time through short presentations (pitch), workshops and business-to-business (b2b) meetings, as explained by its director Daniel Rey. “Noelia Estévez, manager of Campus do Mar and the National Node, and I, as the Spanish node of the Atlantic Action Plan Assistance Mechanism, held meetings with our French, Portuguese, English and Irish counterparts in coordination work sessions. In addition, between the two of us, we attended half a dozen appointments agreed in advance with CEOs of startups in the biotechnology and renewable energy fields and with promoters of research projects”, details Daniel Rey.
For her part, the manager of the Bluebiolab project, Transfrontier Marine Biotechnology Laboratory, was in charge of making a presentation of it, in a session of one of the events.
An excellent opportunity to make first-person contacts
The participation of Campus do Mar and CIM-UVigo in this type of event is considered by Daniel Rey to be “an excellent opportunity to have first-hand contacts with all our partners and collaborators and consolidate the integrative and leading role of marine R&D&I”. In this sense, Rey recalls that Campus do Mar maintains long-standing relationships with institutions in the marine scientific-technological field, both in Portugal and in Galicia, with which it has a long history of organization and joint participation in various initiatives. “In addition, for years CIM-UVigo has been collaborating intensively with the Port Authority of Vigo, in the field of the application of the Blue Growth Strategy, with the development of lines of work in energy sustainability, biodiversity and training in port environments”, details the director of Campus do Mar.
