A research support contract is offered within the framework of the European project Tropical and South Atlantic climate-based marine ecosystem predictions for sustainable management (TRIATLAS), of the H2020 program, to work in the CIM-UVigo Biological Oceanography Group.
Contract conditions
- Dedication: Full time.
- Duration: 6 months, extendable until the end of the project (May 31, 2023).
- Incorporation date (indicative): December 2019.
- Gross monthly salary: €1,800 (includes proration of extra pay).
- Place of work: Faculty of Marine Sciences, Vigo Campus.
Tasks to be developed
- Analysis of databases of abundance, diversity and productivity of marine phytoplankton.
- Determination of the abundance, diversity and metabolic activity of phytoplankton using different techniques such as fluorometry, flow cytometry, microscopy, 13 C and 15 N uptake, and O2 evolution.
- Carrying out experiments with microbial plankton populations and communities.
- Participation in oceanographic campaigns.
- Maintenance and monitoring of phytoplankton cultures (in semi-continuous and chemostats).
- Support in administrative and management tasks.
Requirements
- Graduate or Bachelor’s degree in Marine Sciences, Biology, Environmental Sciences or related degrees.
- Demonstrable experience in the tasks to be performed.
Selection process

The selection committee, which will be made up of researchers from the project, will assess the merits presented and conduct an interview with the shortlisted candidates.
