Influence of climate change on offshore renewable energy

On July 6, Francisco José Santos, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Vigo and the University of Aveiro, gave the lecture “Influence of Climate Change on Offshore Renewable Energy.”

During this lecture, Fran Santos provided a brief introduction to some of the most important aspects of wind energy and presented an interesting study on its future feasibility under predicted climate change conditions. The study compared in-situ measurements with climate model data, a comparison that had not been performed before. This research, funded by the Portuguese Science Foundation (FCT), is being conducted by the Environmental Physics research group (Ephyslab) at the University of Vigo, in collaboration with the Department of Physics at the University of Aveiro and NASA’s Global Modeling and Assimilation Office (GMAO).
