Next Thursday, October 20th at 11:00 am we will resume the 6th edition of the Café con Sal Program. This time it will be Leticia Rivera, doctor from the University of Vigo, who will present part of the results of her doctoral thesis with the talk entitled “Regulation of virulence factors by the AsaI/R quorum sensing system in Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida“.
Leticia Rivera’s doctoral thesis, co-directed by Mª Teresa Pérez and Rosa Farto, focused on determining whether the AsaI/R QS system could be involved in the regulation of virulence factors, the degree of virulence and the ability to produce infection in turbot. The general objective was to study whether the QS system can influence the virulent behavior of Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida.
During this conference Leticia will describe the different methodologies and tools used to address the objective of the work, which were mainly mutation and quantification of gene expression using qPCR, as well as the results obtained, which provided relevant information about the QS system in this bacterium.
