This Thursday, February 24, a videoconference will be held from the Spanish base Gabriel de Castilla in Antarctica. The event is part of the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the Faculty of Marine Science and the 10th anniversary of ECIMAT and can be followed from the Hall of Events of the Faculty of Marine Science.
The sixth expedition from Vigo to Antarctica has now been two weeks on Deception Island, where researchers from the University of Vigo and Santiago are analyzing the decomposition process of macroalgae on the frozen continent and the effect of climate change on it. ECIMAT researchers Mariano Lastra, Jesús S. Troncoso (director of ECIMAT) and Jesús López will explain to us during the videoconference the work developed during this time on Deception Island and the objectives of this VI Antarctic Campaign.
