The European Marine Biological Resource Centre (EMBRC), of which ECIMAT is a member, has launched the MarineTraining.eu portal. EMBRC is steadily advancing in this implementation phase with the goal of achieving the status of European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) by mid-2016. The MarineTraining.eu portal is, in fact, the first service EMBRC has made available to the marine science research community during this implementation phase.
The Training Portal is a collection of tools related to marine training and is aimed at students, training organizers, and other organizations wishing to collaborate in this area. It includes a broad and easily navigable catalog of training initiatives across Europe and offers a wide range of services for organizers. The portal was developed and is maintained by the Belgian Node of EMBRC at Ghent University. It can be accessed at www.marinetraining.eu or via the EMBRC website www.embrc.eu.
EMBRC is a European Strategic Research Infrastructure with “National Nodes” in nine EU member states, with ECIMAT and PIE (Plentzia Marine Station) representing Spain. EMBRC aims to become the main access point for large-scale marine science in Europe. Through its services, EMBRC will support both fundamental and applied research based on marine biological resources and ecosystems. The infrastructure is also expected to be a key driver of Blue Biotechnology development, providing an optimal research environment for users from academia, industry, technology, and other sectors.
