High-frequency radar, or HF Radar, is a technology that allows us to know in real time the surface current (from 0.5 to 2 m depth) in the sea.
The frequency used is 46 MHz, and one radar was installed at the Marine Science Station of Toralla (ECIMAT) and another at the Punta Subrido Lighthouse, under the authority of the Port of Vigo. This configuration allows a resolution of up to 190 m and a range of 10 km, thus covering the outer third of the Ría.
