On the upcoming March 14, a working session will be held at the Auditorium of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR) at the University of Porto, focusing on the implementation of the Water Framework Directive in the Miño River estuary. The session will address the transfer of tools for implementing the WFD in transitional coastal waters and the foundations for the management plan of the Miño River estuary.
The main objectives of the workshop are:
To present the TEAM-Miño project.
To provide information on the degree of implementation of the Water Framework Directive in Galicia and northern Portugal for transitional waters and estuaries.
To discuss specific pollution control standards and environmental quality standards for the northwestern Iberian Peninsula.
To propose assessment criteria and reference conditions for new biological indicators that are sensitive, rapid, and cost-effective.
