Between October 6 and 7, 2011, the XIV Forum on Marine Resources and Aquaculture of the Galician Rías was held in O Grove, Galicia. As every year, researchers, businesspeople, institutions, and students gathered to learn about the state of the art of marine resources and aquaculture in Galicia and Spain, as well as the latest advances in these fields. The goal was not only to provide a snapshot of the sector but also to share experiences and foster debate on these topics. From the promotion of research units to aquaculture as a tool for development cooperation, the meeting covered many diverse subjects, including R&D&I, labeling, commercialization challenges, environmental sustainability, carbon footprint in aquaculture, and new species for aquaculture production.
